Initial Slate-Grey Production

Allgemeine-SS RZM helmet. The M16 style SS RZM issue steel helmet with the initial production slate-grey anodised finish. Interior retains the RZM three panel leather lining along with special chinstrap. To the inner side skirts of the helmet are the typical faint stamped 'RZM' & 'SS' stamps to each side. Under one of the liner pads is the ink stamp for 'SS-Standarte 'N' along with the date 1935.

Condition report: Approximately 60% slate-grey anodised finish remaining to the exterior. Some rust spots here and there. The interior liner pads in good overall condition (some slate-grey over spray on the liner pads, typical of many RZM issue helmets). The leather chinstrap in good overall condition. The 'RZM' and 'SS' side skirt stampings clear.

Notes: Initial production of the SS 1934 RZM steel helmet was completed with an unusal slate-grey anodised finish. The majorty of helmets were quickly resprayed black, and had initial hand-painted decals applied. Less than half a dozen RZM helmets are known to survive with the original anodised finish.
